| This will be the final races in the long distance series, there will be a long and short course to cater for all paddlers. The DSKC end of season bash will be after the race. The end of season bash is for all paddlers and families. Even if you are not planning on racing we would encourage everyone to attend to join us for a social evening. DSKC membership fees will also be collected after the race. |

| Race 6 of the Westminster Gulf series will be held on 19 Feb, at 1400 next to the Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi. There will be a 22km long course and a 13km short course. |

| Bonavanti Surf Ski Race, St Francis Bay, South Africa (27 Dec 09) |
| For those in the area, the Bonavanti Surf Ski race at St Francis Bay, South Africa will be held on the 27th of December. Registration 0800, Start time 0900.
The race is 15km mostly in the sea but also includes an exciting entry and exit through the Kromme River mouth into the river and canals. It is a great race with a bit of every thing along with stunning coastline and views.

| Sorry about the short notice regarding the race details for this Saturdays race. Race start is 1430 and the start will be in Jebel Ali and the finish will at the Mina Seyahi. |

| Race 2 will start and finish at DSKC.
There are 3 potential courses to maxmise the chance of finishing with a down wind. The race distance will be approx 20-22.5km depending on the course. The course used will be decided 1 hour prior to the race depending on wind conditions of the day.

| A short race starting and finishing on the beach at DSKC to get everyone back onto the water after the summer and start their preparation for the Shamal.

| 2009 Paddlers v Runners challenge June 5th 0615 dskc beach (16 May 09) |
| The annual challenge between Dubai Creek Striders runners and Dubai's paddling community will be on June 5th. Paddlers start will be DSKC beach, Jumeriah, at 0615. Finish will be at Dubai Offshore Sailing Club ( dosc ). As many teams of 4 paddlers requested. All paddlers based at MINA / Robs Place /ADOW /DSKC , home based asked to try to participate. Indvidual paddlers will be teamed up. Please register on www.dubaicreekstriders.com. A breakfast for all entrants plus their families will be provided by DOSC at a most fee.

| Race 5, Middle East long Distance Series will now be held in Dubai on the 24th of April and not in Abu Dhabi due to the Al Gharbia Watersports Festival in Abu Dhabi on the 1st of May. |

| Mirfa is approx 120km south of Abu Dhabi on the main road leading to Saudi Arabia. Acommodation is available. Full details on www.adow.ae. Prize money on offer. Please note all entries must be submitted on line by noon April 29th.

| 2009 Ali Maynard classic at Musandam results (28 Mar 09) |
| A large turn out of 22 participants in 20skis ( 2 double entered, great stuff ). The weather was spotty but gloriously cool on the day. A 2 stage start, with the 1st group missing the telegraph island fjord entrance and end up paddling a awesome 35.3km route past magnificent unsullied coastline and in to a new fjord and back assisted by bursts of lashing rain and encouragement by bemused fishermen. The 2nd group entered the telegraph island fjord without mishap and on the way back to Khassab, beach, some paddlers opted to exercise the option of being assisted by the backwash of dhows going in the same direction and reggae music kindly provided by the dhow drivers. In the evening, the paddlers that stayed over had a hilarious rain assisted barbecue where the spirit of the event and sport in general was encapsulated by Ben Brough's laconic comment when asked if he was fit enough to be sponsored to compete in the southern shamaal, "bring it on". |

| The Ali Maynard Classic will start and finish on the beach next to the Golden Tulip Hotel in Khasab. The race is approx 23km in length and will be around Telegraph Island.

| DSKC / UAE 2009 race and events calendar (23 Mar 09) |
| The preliminary 2009 race and event calendar and club race competition is attached. As can be seen from earlier e mails, the objective is to coordinate all races and events within the UAE, so the race calender will expand and change as we intergrate all our efforts with Abu Dhabi etc. In the coming weeks, the updated dskc website will also help make the coomunication process more efficient and user friendly. | Abu Dhabi Ocean Warriors in association with Shangri-la Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri are holding the Surfski Race 2008 on the 28-March-08 at 8:30am on the beach in front of the Shangri-la Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri. On offer are both a short and a long course with an entry fee of AED100.
Could participants contact the organiser, Damien Pennefather, on 050 811 6256 or via this e-mail (pennies@eim.ae) so I can get an idea of the number of entries.
Non particpants welcome to have breakfast at AED 65 per head. The beach at the hotel will be open for our use for as long as we like (no pool) at no extra charge.
