Race 2, Middle East 09/10 Championship (30 Oct 09)

I am happy to announce Westminster Gulf are now the principle sponsors of the 09/10 Middle East Series Championship.  http://www.westminstergulf.com/

Race 2 is aimed at helping people prepare for the Shamal, if the wind blows it will have long legs of both up and down wind conditions. Google Earth images of the 3 courses will be posted in the week prior to the event. Two of the course`s will have outer turn buoys that can be quite hard to locate visually until within 2 kms of the buoys, so way points will also be given prior to the event. It is advisable for the lead paddlers to use GPS in aiding locating the buoys in the most direct route. Ensure you monitor this site for course images, way points and instructions in the days prior to the race.

There will be no safety boat for the race, the onus is on each paddler to self assess their own fitness and ability prior to the race, especially if there is considerable wind. I would suggest intermediate level and less fit paddlers team up with a partner and stick together so you can help each other if need be during the race. The outer turn buoys are quite a distance offshore.
